With a name like Kerwin Lumpkins, I figure I have to make some attempt at appearing cultured. So, here it is.

My brother mentioned on the phone once that he was trying to sell off a violin in 2008 and was having troulbe moving it. I've been planning on learning the violin for years, and saw this as a good opportunity, so I took it. It is a beautiful thing. I'd like to say it was 200 years old or somethign like that, but the label inside says 2004. Roth model made in Cleveland. I started lessons on Jan 6, 2009 and I'm pretty bad. I generally wait till no one is in the house to practice.

Megan and I have some fun with practice sessions in the "conservatory" (dining room). Megan played flute in High School, so she really helps me out a lot by playing with me. And it's a fun way to spend Friday evening. I recommend red wine while practicing music, but then I don't drink anything but red so that's not surprising.

Notice that the wine is closer to me than the sheet of music. I imagine it would be much harder to get Megan to play with me without plenty of wine handy.
